Reporter: I have a question to Robert and to Scarlett. Firstly to Robert, throughout Iron Man 1 and 2, Tony Stark started off as a very egotistical character but learns how to fight as a team. And so how did you approach this role, bearing in mind that kind of maturity as a human being when it comes to the Tony Stark character, and did you learn anything throughout the three movies that you made?
And to Scarlett, to get into shape for Black Widow did you have anything special to do in terms of the diet, like did you have to eat any specific food, or that sort of thing?
Scarlett: How come you get the really interesting existential question, and I get the like, “rabbit food” question?
The respect given to you if you’re a man in the entertainment business, and the respect given to you if you’re a woman in the entertainment business: all perfectly summed up in one idiotically thought out line of questioning.

A Little Bit On The Portal Side: Every other Portal themed cake may as well just give up and go eat some doo-doo in a place somewhere. This jawnz is straight up beast mode and I’ll probably make my lady make me one. She’s been taking cake decorating classes, so I’m sure she could bang this out in, like, a day or two.

Romance Was Born Designs Marvel-ous Looks For Australian Fashion Week [link]

The whimsical Australian designer duo, Romance Was Born, kicked off Australian Fashion Week with a super-heroic collection for Spring/Summer 2013, sponsored by no other than Marvel Comics. With a collection that includes a tangible incarnation of Jack Kirby’s famous Kirby Krackle (comprised of textured beads and baubles) floating on a cosmic purple and charcoal ensemble, the Romance Was Born x Marvel Comics collaboration is truly a walking work of art.

Straying away from the blatant iconography and overuse of superhero emblems, Romance Was Born raised the bar for the fusion of fashion and comics, utilizing a mix of both comic and couture techniques to create high fashion looks inspired by Jack Kirby and the creators of Marvel Comics. These 25 looks feature anatomical trompe-l’œil prints, textured embellishments, halftone patterns, and colorful motifs of Marvel’s finest making cameo appearances throughout the collection.

Although the fashion may be a bit audacious for everyday wear, these looks provide a great style guide in how to add a touch of comic-inspired glamor into your wardrobe, from jewel-toned color coordination to structured silhouettes to bold prints.

Wanted to try out the caviar manicure that people have been talking about for awhile now. Sephora and Ciaté have a new kit out this month, but at $25, it seems a little pricey for a short-lasting look (they promise 48 hours). You can get glass microbeads at Michaels or other craft stores for under $5, and they adhere easily to regular nail polish. Pretty simple method, too: paint base coat and first coat of color as usual. Lay down a thick second coat, then pour the microbeads over your nail to cover (over a piece of paper or paper towel, so you can save the extra). Do this one nail at a time, so the polish won’t dry out. Let dry for a minute, then press the beads gently into your polish, being sure to press down and not sideways so as not to smudge. Do not use topcoat, as that will strip the beads of color. Dry fully before handling anything (at least 45 min-1 hour).

I’ve just about passed the 48-hour mark, and wear is definitely visible. You could probably get it to last longer if you’re careful with your hands, but I was silly and went out and gardened the first day, washed dishes without gloves, etc. If you’re not neurotic like me about having neat nails, you could probably leave this on for a couple more days with it looking fine, but when you do want to remove it, just wrap an acetone-soaked cotton ball around your nail and hold for 30 seconds. After that, the microbeads should come loose without damaging your nail.

The other nails are painted with 2 coats China Glaze Hunger Games Capitol Colours in Smoke and Ashes, topped with 1 coat of CGHGC in Luxe and Lush. Looks a lot more vibrant in person; my boyfriend compared it to marble (I think he means something like Labradorite granite, with the iridescent flecks). Smoke and Ashes is also really nice on its own—it’s black shot through with subtle blue & green shimmer.

Wanted to do something a little different for Easter. This manicure was a little involved. First, I filed my nails into pointed ovals for the eggs. I applied binder hole reinforcements about 1/8 in. from the cuticle, then painted that strip green. Next, I filled the rest of the nail with white, to create an opaque base for the eggs. After that, I painted the “eggs” in various colors and decorated them with my detail brush and dotting tools. Finaly, I used a striper brush to paint thin stripes of various greens, to give the effect of the eggs sitting in grass.

Colors used:
Base Green: China Glaze Capitol Colours in Agro
Base White: Essie in Blanc
Light Blue: Butter London in Knackered
Turquoise: OPI in Suzi Says Feng Shui
Pink: Sephora by OPI Glee in Express Yourself to Yourself
Berry: OPI Dim Sum Plum
Pale Peach: American Apparel in Summer Peach
Orange: China Glaze Capitol Colours in Riveting
Coral: Yes Your Lioness
Glitter Green: Sephora by OPI Glee in Gleek Out
Dark Green: Illamasqua in Rampage
